Tracking and steering control data were recorded for 12 novices who drove an instrumented car on nine occasions during and after a driver training course. The data were examined for changes in tracking and steering control variables, as well as for changes in control strategy during the learning process. The most interesting change in steering control with learning was in the strategy used by the driver to control lateral position.
