Abstract
This report describes two related studies designed to evaluate the effects of conspicuity coding of updated alpha-numeric information and to compare the relative effects of Individual and Group displays. Amount of information presented and amount of information updated were varied. Principal findings lend support to the incorporation and use of coding capabilities in current and proposed command systems. While findings regarding Individual vs Group displays are not conclusive, they do suggest that if uncoded updated information is presented, there may be a whole series of information assimilation tasks which can be more efficiently accomplished with Individual than with Group displays.
