Abstract
This paper discusses the objectives, responsibilities, and functions of the human factors operation within the Space Guidance Center of the Federal Systems Division in IBM. The management philosophy is examined relative to the organization of Human Factors within an integrated engineering manufacturing facility. Management problems concerning priority, size, and funding are also discussed. The sizing of the group will be contrasted with that of the facility. Various relationships that have been established between the Human Factors group and various plant activities are examined. The support that other engineering organizations can give Human Factors is also discussed.
