Abstract
Our study shows that computerized teaching programs can be an effective method for teaching staff members. Using the Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint programs, we created slide presentations that put our educational information into an attractive visual package. The benefits of this approach included: (1) user-friendly preparation requiring few modifications, and (2) the ability to run the programs manually or automatically. Through the use of post-tests and evaluations, the data showed that 69% of staff members felt that they were able to retain more facts about the topics presented. In additon, 42% of staff members were willing to return at another time to view a different topic. Computerized presentation programs can educate staff members about routine tasks on any topic, and slide shows can be tailored to meet the needs of a either a broad audience or a few individuals.
