Abstract
Pharmacy is being recognized for provider status in the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) of 2003. Moreover, the initiation of reimbursement for pharmacists’ delivery of cognitive services is staged to begin. Medication Therapy Management Services (MTMS) and Chronic Care Improvement Programs (CCIP) are both described in the new law. These reimbursable service components can be delivered starting in January of 2006. This installment addresses the convergence of MMA and patient-directed care supported by PDA technology.
