Much thought has gone into redefining the role of the school health service over the past year, and in particular, considering how it might become part of a 'health promoting school'. Here Pippa Bagnal reports on the recommendations stemming from the Health Visitors' Association's review of school nursing, and in the following article J A. Reid proposes a new public health function for the service.
