IN SPITE of Fife Health Board's regular participation in the annual national immunisation campaign in Scotland, the uptake of measles vaccine by two-year- olds in our area in 1982 was only 56%, a level totally inadequate to achieve the eradication of the disease. By identifying the barriers to the uptake of vaccine and implementing a co-ordinated and comprehen sive health education programme to overcome these, we have been able to raise the level of measles immu nisation to 80%.
