Abstract
AS part of its current initiative on passive smoking, the Health Education Council commissioned an NOP poll to look into three areas: the attitudes, awareness and behaviour of the general public in relation to passive smoking, the feasibility of carrying out a public education campaign in this area, and possible strategies. The research consisted of both a quantitative element, using a sample of 835 smokers, ex-smokers and non-smokers, and a qualitative element, involving small group discussions. An inter pretive report of the research is lodged in the HEC library.
