Abstract
The paper describes continual conflicts between the ruling party and the opposition in regard to the media access in contemporary Serbia. The conflicts that have emerged with the introduction of a multiparty system have not stopped ever since. The author perceives the essence of the conflicts in a complete unwillingness of the ruling party to renounce its dominant post in the media, inherited from its communist predecessor from the one-party period. Besides this, the author detects some other advantages of the ruling party out of the sphere of media. These advantages also explain the remaining of the ruling party in power despite the pro-opposition orientation of the majority of Serbian citizens.
