Abstract
South Africa's illegal occupation of Namibia after 1966 enabled it to exercise authoritarian rule in the country. The socio-political environment in what was to become "Africa's last colony" was dominated by a strategy of pro-South African disinformation. The aim of this strategy was to encourage Namibians to agree to a South-African - rather than United Nations' - sponsored solution for the country. This article concentrates on South African attempts to dominate the radio communications system in Namibia.
