Abstract
The rise in global activities has seen the form of an international system on competition regulation being discussed heatedly in the academic circles. Well-organized international competition would maximize not only global welfare, but economic freedom as well. Although a comprehensive agreement on competition policy is yet to come into the WTO regime, there are several provisions in the existing WTO agreements that deal with competition matters. In this respect, competition policy is already an integral part of the WTO. There are, however, still a few unresolved issues and hence a need to negotiate and establish an agreement to secure better and more equitable conditions for international trade, facilitating effective voluntary cooperation on anti-competitive practices which adversely affects international trade and assisting WTO Members in the establishment, implementation and enforcement of competition rules within their respective jurisdictions.
