Abstract
This paper is a personal response to ecumenical life in the UK today by one who has lived ecumenically for a lifetime. It indicates the dynamism of the post-war ecumenical activity and then contrasts it, with some reference to significant events, to contemporary trends such as `post-denominationalism' and `neo-denominationalism'. The challenge is to learn from the ecumenically pioneering efforts over the years and to discover afresh `the pain of our divisions' in seeking the `unity Christ wills'.
