This article documents the contextualizing of the `Stilling of the Sea' in the Cornish fishing village of Newlyn. The images of `the boat', `the journey to the other side', `the sea and storm' and `the sailors' offered vivid touchstones not only with past experiences but also compelling incentives for future development.
