Abstract
The New Welsh Bible New Testament (1975) rendered hilastêrion (Rom 3:25) as `means of purification', reflecting the views of C.H. Dodd. Changes in the prominence accorded to Dodd's understanding are seen in the subsequent complete Bible (1988) and the later revised edition (2004), where the phrase was relegated to a footnote.
