Gloria in a multitude of voices

Abstract

This article reconstructs a Hebrew version of the Gloria in Luke 2: 14 with its focus on the righteous remnant of Israel and then analyses the early versions in Greek, Latin, Syriac and Coptic. Finally it gives some later interpretations of the canticle in literature, art and music.
