Abstract
This study investigated the construct validity of scores on the Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ), which was designed to measure eight dimensions of human temperament. The 105 STQ items were factor analyzed. Guided by previous research, both three-factor and nine-factor solutions were compared to the theoretical structure of the instrument. Neither the orthogonal nor the oblique solution revealed the eight first-order temperament factors (plus a social desirability factor). The three-dimensional structure of the STQ items was supported.
