P. E. Spector developed the Work Locus of Control Scale (WLCS) to be used in work settings. The present study examines three aspects of the WLCS in three separate samples: (a) factor structure, (b) criterion-related validity, and (c) convergent and discriminant validity. The preponderance of evidence suggests that the WLCS consists of two factors: internal and external. In contrast to using an overall WLCS score as described in Spector's development of the measure, users of the scale are advised to compute separate subscales.
