Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument measuring high school student resistance to schooling and investigate the factorial validity of the instrument. A 47-item instrument, Student Resistance to Schooling Inventory (SRSI), was constructed. The instrument was administered to 646 high school students in ametropolitan school district in the Midwest. A factor analysis employing principal components extraction procedures with oblique rotation was used to examine the construct validity of the SRSI. The factor analysis and instrument modification resulted in a 25-item instrument for measuring student resistance to schooling.
