Abstract
This is a study of the reliability and validity of a measure of the ability to reason about logical propositions. The Propositional Logic Test is short, easy to administer, and highly reliable. Validity is demonstrated by correlations with other measures of logical reasoning and with success in science. Analysis of systematic error on this instrument reveals patterns that resemble those so clearly demonstrated through the application of more difficult clinical measurement techniques. The Propositional Logic Test can be used either for normative assessment of groups or for detailed analysis of individual difficulties with logical statements.
