Abstract
Multiple regression analysis was employed to determine the combination of predictor variables that would optimize prediction of WISC-R Full Scale IQ for 127 adolescents. Independent predictor variables included race, sex, age, standard score on the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) and total test score on the Peabody Individual Achievement Test. A multiple R of .79 was achieved when all five predictor variables were entered hierarchically. A regression equation is presented which yields a more reliable estimate of intelligence than does the PPVT-R alone.
