The general intelligence or "g" factor was investigated for a large nonreferred sample of black, Hispanic, and white children. WISC-R subtest scores were factor analyzed and the first principal factor was extracted. These factor loadings were converted to z scores and then analyzed using a special chi square formula. The results indicated that the magnitude and the pattern of the loadings were similar for the three ethnic groups. Implications of these results were discussed.
