The present review describes a test of selective attention known as the Auditory Selective Attention Test (ASAT). The origin of the test is described and a description of the test is given. Research is reviewed on the reliability, criterion-related validity, and construct validity of the test. The test has been shown to be a valid predictor of flying performance, driving performance, and monitoring. Further research is needed on the reliability and construct validity of the instrument.
