Abstract
This paper presents an assessment instrument specifically developed for use with deaf-blind persons. The instrument was designed to provide the assessment necessary for individual program planning and to measure progress. The 199-item progress inventory is organized in six major categories with 19 subsections. The statements are ordered according to degree of difficulty. The instrument has been field tested with a sample of 271 deaf-blind persons in six southeastern states.
