The predictive validity of the First-Grade Screening Test (FGST) was investigated with a sample of 72 kindergarten students. Comparison of the FGST with end of the year kindergarten performance and midyear achievement testing in first grade suggested moderate predictive utility. Additionally, the strong relationships with concept learning and direction following tasks indicated that the construct validity of this test needs to be examined carefully.
