A generalized BASIC program subroutine is described which may be used by educational researchers who want to collect data by microcomputer by using Likert type items. The subroutine may be easily modified for special purposes and may be employed by investigators for collecting certain types of attitudinal or cognitive data. Versions of the routine that are available for Commodore and Apple computers may be easily modified for use with other microcomputer systems running a Microsoft BASIC.
