The Structure of Intellect Learning Abilities (SOI-LA) test has been widely recommended for use in placement, diagnostic, and prescriptive applications. However, the validity of the test has not been fully explored. This study investigated the construct validity of the three divergent production subtests on the SOI-LA test. Subjects were 205 sixth-grade pupils from New York and Louisiana schools. The evidence generally supported the validity of the three subtests, although results were somewhat mixed with respect to one subtest.
