Abstract
Various tests with hidden figures material (e.g., EFT, CFT and HFT) are used as empirical indicators for field dependence-independence. This study investigates whether generalizing performance-scores of the various hidden figures tests is justifiable. To do this the test characteristics of embeddedness and norm figure uncertainty were systematically varied following a repeated measurement design. The generalizability of these test characteristics appeared to be limited. Properties of norm figures and search figures appeared to have a great influence on the performance-score variance.
