Abstract
The generalizability of prediction equations was investigated for licensure examinations in nursing. Three sets of regression equations were developed and compared for accuracy of prediction. The re sults indicated that equations for one university could accurately predict test performance at a different university. It was concluded that prediction equations for the State Boards are stable across pop ulations. In addition, evidence was presented to suggest that verbal ability is an underlying construct which is partially responsible for the stable prediction.
