A general discriminant analysis method, based on the E-correla tion coefficient concept is introduced. The method is applicable to data on any scale type, even to nominal data. It separates the vari ous subgroups by using Euclidean spaces. Several criteria for how to separate between the subgroups are suggested. The G-analysis, the weighted G analysis and the WHIDD analysis are special cases of the method.
