Abstract
After being translated into French, the Learning Environment Inventory was administered to 3065 high school students in the Province of Quebec. To validate the Inventory, its 15 scales as well as an IQ measure were used as predictors; and the achievement score, as a criterion. The results indicated that environmental scales predicted effectively the achievement in different subject-matter areas, even after the effect of IQ scores was partialled out. The environmental variables were different in degree of validity in predicting the achievement of various subject-matter areas. Factor analysis confirmed that the 15 scales of the Inventory are more or less independent and homogeneous within themselves.
