Described is the Vocational Interest Inventory (VII), a unique guidance instrument to assist people in making post-high school educational and vocational decisions. Given since 1970 to 25,000 high school students annually as part of a statewide testing program, its forced-choice format is particularly appropriate for young, undecided clients whose interests are not well differentiated. Based on Anne Roe's occupational classification system, the VII has eight years of research support for its reliability, construct and predictive validity, and five-fold strategy to minimize sex bias in interest measurement.
