Abstract
The purpose of the present project was to ascertain the degree of relationship between the scores on the Barron Ego Strength Scale and the scores on the Bender-Gestalt Test for a sample of college students from Adolescent Psychology classes. The subjects participating were 40 white females, 9 white males, and 11 black females. The ages ranged from 18 to 47, with a mean age of 24.
A comparison of the Barron and Bender measures for the 40 white females resulted in a correlation coeflicient of -.32, which was significant at the .05 level. A comparison of the Barron and Bender scores for the total group of 60 resulted in a correlation coefficient of -.26, which attained significance at the .05 level.
No sex differences were found on the Barron or on the Bender. There was, however, a racial difference observed on the Bender. In mean scores both white males and white females differed significantly at the .01 level from black females.
