Abstract
Describes the use of the statistical index, PM , a coefficient indicating the probability that a person will belong to a particular clinical class. PM , which is much easier to compute than its G index equivalent, is used with dichotomous scores and is based on elementary probability theory. Using empirical clinical data for a demonstration study, the placement accuracy of the P M index was compared with that of G analysis. The techniques gave equivalent results.
