Described is an alternative algorithm for item analysis in which item discrimination indices have been defined for item distractors in addition to their traditional definition for the scored alternative. Also, the Campbell and Fiske concept of convergent and discriminant validity was reconceptualized from the test to the item level and proposed as an aid in interpretation of results of item analysis.
