GURU is a computer program that was developed to analyze data generated by open-ended question techniques such as ECHO or other semistructured data collection techniques, in which data are categorized. This program computes extensive descriptive statistics, allows great flexibility in comparing response patterns of various subgroups within the total sample, and permits comparisons of different classifications of the same data. Written in PL/I the program must be run using the PL/I Optimizing Compiler operating on the IBM 360/370 series.
