Abstract
This study investigated the construct validity of the dimensions of Multidimensional-Multiattributional Causality Scale (MMCS) based on Winner’s attribution model in both achievement and affiliation goal domains, using confirmatory factor analysis. Participants were 172 students enrolled in B.Ed and in Diploma Education courses at the University of Auckland. The results indicated that in the affiliation domain, all but stability models exhibited adequate fit, whereas in the achievement domain, only externality, stability, and controllability models showed good fit. This provides partial evidence that the MMCS can be used as a goal-specific measure rather than a general measure.
