Abstract
The concept of organizational culture and the leader's role in its development has recently received significant attention. However, scholars have noted that thick descriptions of how school leaders symbolically influence organizational culture are scarce. Additionally, scholars have been critical of 'symbolic managers" and described their influence on organizational culture as manipulative. This study seeks to increase the conceptual understanding of symbolic leadership behavior and inform the issue of cultural manipulation by providing an extensive description and conceptual analysis of the symbolic leadership behavior of an elementary school principal
