Abstract
In this study, the Pupil Control Behavior Form, which had been used in studies of teachers, was validated for use with principals. Students' perceptions of principals'pupil control behavior and of school robustness were then investigated. The study revealed an association between humanistic pupil control behavior of principals and high levels of school robustness. Differences in both pupil control behavior and school robust ness were also found between elementary and secondary school levels. (This study was originally presented as a paper at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association, Los Angeles, in April, 1981.)
