Abstract
Though he sees some relevance in the "applied science" approach to the study of educational administration which is generally supported by pro fessors who thus perpetuate the prevailing ideology and status quo, Professor Hills identifies a process of structural differentiation within the field and describes emerging, specialized scholarly roles for professors. Mr. Hills is associate professor of education and a staff member in the Center for the Advanced Study of Educational Administration at the University of Oregon.
