Abstract
This article is presented in two parts. Part I introduces the work of the Task Force on Research and Inquiry, commissioned by Division A (educational administration) of the American Educational Research Association. Part II, which appears at the end of this issue, discusses knowledge production, knowledge dissemination and utilization, and scholar preparation and development in the field of educational administration based on the findings and recommendations of the task force articles in this special issue of Educational Administration Quarterly. The strongest and most consistent theme emphasized by the task force is the importance of increased utility and quality in educational admin-istration research.
