Abstract
The authors develop a framework for the analysis of community power structures from concepts and methodologies in political science and sociology. Relevant studies are reported to support certain elements of the framework and to suggest community characteristics which may be closely related to, perhaps predictive of, the configuration of the dominant influence structures in communities.
