The Scales of Independent Behavior is a comprehensive, norm-referenced interview assessment of adaptive behavior for subjects between the ages of three months and 40+ years. The technical adequacy including norming, reliability and validity appear to be generally adequate. The instrument can be used by a variety of experienced professionals. The awkwardness of an easel between the in-terviewer and the respondent has to be over-come and the abundant opportunities for handscoring can be alleviated by using the computer scoring system.
