Abstract
Since 1966, when the ERIC Clearinghouse on Handicapped and Gifted Children first opened its doors, staff specialists have been collecting, abstracting, and indexing special education literature. This collection of abstracts has included research and project reports, published books, journal articles, curriculum guides, conference papers, and nonprint professional products.
To date, over 50,000 abstracts have been entered into the computerized search system, and several hundred are being added monthly. This is the data base that is used for individual and reprint searches. It is also an information resource for the development of fact sheets, Hot Topics papers, and special publications. For a complete description of services, products, and costs, write the ERIC Clearinghouse on Handicapped and Gifted Children, 1920 Association Drive, Reston, VA 22091.
The following abstracts are recent Clearinghouse entries that deal with the early years of retarded children. They are representative of the type of material that is not readily available through any source other than the ERIC system.
The ERIC accession number (ED number) is cited with each abstract for use in ordering the document in microfiche or paper copy form from the ERIC Document Reproduction Service, P.O. Box 190, Arlington, VA 22210. Prices are current as of December 1, 1981, and may be considered valid for the following six months.
