Abstract
A one-to-one (1:1) instructional format is frequently employed with severely handicapped individuals; however, an alternate to 1:1 training may result from the identification and development of a technology of individualized instruction within small group formats. This article addresses considerations for forming groups, students’ involvement in the training process through the delivery of antecedent and consequent events, behavior management, and data collection in groups. Further applied research related to potential benefits and procedural questions is needed before definitive statements regarding optimum teaching formats can be made.
