The communication process between parent and child is viewed as critical in the complexity of problems faced by the educable mentally retarded. This study investigated the communication interaction between EMR adolescents and their mothers in order to determine if problems are perceived to exist between them. Results indicated that perceived problems did exist between the experimental groups. Implications for future research and educational programming are discussed.
