Abstract
One area in special education which suffers from a lack of attention is the child's physical development. David C. Thelen explains a program set up at the Varina Elementary School which is geared toward (a) meeting each child's needs regardless of ability and (b) developing both the child's gross and motor coordination as well as improving his perceptual problems.
Charles K. Miller suggests a motivational-instructional technique for aiding “hard core” disabled readers. The technique, which is a combination of principles of directed readingk activities and behavior modification, can be applied to children in elementary through junior high school levels.
