Abstract
The most basic motive of human behavior appears to be the need to know, which is scientifically know as epistemic behavior. Without adequate language skills, the individual has a limited ability to categorize information because he may not have “names” for things and events. Without some sort of “naming” ability there is no way for the learner to store information for future use. The Structure-Process System is proposed as a model which offers great explanatory power in the observation, analysis, and modification of human behavior.
