Abstract
Ordway draws many comparisons between The Lord of the Rings and biblical themes or events from Tolkien’s life. For instance, she suggests that Tolkien’s experience of forgiveness which he learned from Fr Francis Morgan appears in the theme of forgiveness and mercy in The Lord of the Rings in which Frodo’s act of mercy for Gollum is repaid.
