Abstract
Community correction is fast becoming an undefinable cliché in the criminal justice community. To help create a uniform basis for discussion and study, I consider some structures and objectives common to many com munity correction efforts, and some of the pitfalls a correctional system may encounter in making a commitment to community correction. Mech anisms for subsidizing and implementing these programs and models for pretrial diversion are also discussed.
