Abstract
Correction is going through a period of rapid professionaliza tion. Any accupational group in the process of professionalizing arouses resistance. Areas of resistance include resistance from the professional association, resistance from specialized areas of social work, resistance within the field of correction itself, re sistance from environing professions, professional fictions, compe tition for resources, and knowledge.
